Talking about the video conference deeply with you

A complete video conference system is usually composed of video conference terminal, multi-point control unit MCU, network management software, transmission network and related accessories.
I.Video conferencing terminal
Video conference terminal is used to encode and package video and audio data, and then transmit it to the remote end through the network. At the same time, it receives the data from the remote end, unpacks and decodes it, and restores the video and audio signals to the peripheral equipment. In short, the video conference terminal is the front-end device in the conference process. There are three main video conferencing terminals: desktop, set-top, conference room.
1. Desktop terminal
Desktop terminals are a sophisticated combination of powerful desktop or laptop computers with high-quality cameras (built-in or external), ISDN cards or network cards, and video conferencing software. It effectively enables people at your desk or traveling to join you in meetings and have face-to-face conversations with you. Main Applications: Desktop video conferencing terminals are usually assigned to special individuals in the office or to people working on business trips. Desktop-based video conferencing terminals support multi-point meetings (e.g., meetings with more than two conference sites), but they are mostly used for peer-to-peer meetings (e.g., one person meeting with another). Nowadays, mobile terminals such as tablet computers and smart phones can become mobile video conferencing terminals by installing special applications.
2. Set-top box terminals
The set-top box terminal is known for its simplicity. In one unit, all the hardware and software are placed on the TV set. Easy installation and light equipment. The opening of video conferences only requires an ordinary TV set and a ISDN BRI line or LAN. Video conferencing terminals can also load peripherals such as document projectors and whiteboard devices to enhance functionality. Main Applications: Set-top box terminals are usually shared resources between departments, suitable for organizations of all sizes, from multinational companies to small businesses, and are often the first conference room terminals purchased by companies.
3. Conference room terminal
Conference room terminals provide almost any video conferencing solution required, typically integrated in a conference room. The conference room terminal usually combines a large number of accessories, such as audio systems, additional cameras, document projectors, and collaborative file communication with the PC. Dual-screen display, rich communication interface, graphics and text stream selection make the terminal become a high-grade, comprehensive product. Main applications: conference room type terminals are designed for large and medium-sized enterprises.
II. About MCU
MCU is the abbreviation of central control equipment in video conferencing system. It is called Multipoint Control Unit, also called multipoint conference controller. It is the key equipment of multipoint video conferencing system. MCU acts as a "switch" in video conferencing. After synchronous separation, MCU extracts audio, video, data and other information and signaling from the information flow of each conference site, and then sends the information and signaling of each conference site to the same processing module to complete the corresponding audio mixing or switching. Frequency mixing or switching, data broadcasting and routing, timing and conference control, and other processes, and finally the various information needed by the conference venues are recombined and sent to the corresponding terminal system equipment.
MCU mainly deals with three types of data:
1. video signal: mainly by video processor.
2. audio signal: mainly by the audio processor to complete data signals;
3. data signal: mainly by data processor.
In addition, the network interface module and the control processor in the MCU structure are also essential. The control processor is mainly responsible for determining the correct routing, mixing or switching audio, video, data signals, and conference control.
